What's Coming in the New Duck Nest?

Peer Support is Key

Our Peer Wellness Facilitators also offer one-on-one support services for the UO student community. Students staff the space, provide the programming, and connect other students to campus and community resources. Whether it be SNAP enrollment assistance, or simply time to check in about whatever is going on in your life, Peer Wellness Facilitators are here to support you. Peer-to-peer support is a successful strategy cited widely in the literature to significantly improve health outcomes.

EQUITY AND INCLUSION

Peer-to-Peer Is…

Acknowledging each student as an expert of their life and honoring where everyone is on their well-being journey to support their goals in a respectful, nonjudgmental method. Peer Wellness Guides connect in a peer-to-peer relationship to work toward each student’s goals.

Peer-to-Peer Is Not…

Counseling, therapy, or giving medical, nutrition, or exercise prescriptions and diagnoses. Peer Wellness Guides are trained to identify when needs of students fall outside of their scope of practice and work with students to connect them with the best resources.

Who Is It For?

Peer-to-Peer is for University of Oregon students who are seeking to partner with a Peer Wellness Guide to work on self-directed, lasting changes, aligned with their values to enhance their well-being. Peer Wellness Guides will work with students to identify their strengths and goals, and together create actionable steps to achieve their well-being goal.
